Beginner Courses

New to pottery? You're in the right place.

Our beginner classes are designed for complete beginners, with step-by-step guidance in a relaxed, supportive environment. Unlike larger studios, we keep our classes small (maximum 8 students), giving you plenty of individual attention as you build confidence with clay. Inspired by Chinese, Korean and Japanese ceramic traditions, we focus not only on techniques, but also on developing a natural connection with the material. Whether you're looking for a new hobby, a creative escape, or the start of a longer ceramics journey, you'll leave with handmade pieces and skills to keep growing.

What truly set Trace Ceramics apart was the quality of instruction. Our instructor was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, creating a supportive atmosphere where we felt comfortable trying new things. They struck the perfect balance by giving us individualized instructions, while still allowing us the freedom to be truly creative.

We would definitely recommend Trace Ceramics Studio to anyone, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to advance your existing skills. We can't wait to go back!

Absolutely loved this ceramic class! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I especially appreciated the calming, welcoming environment and the encouragement to try new things. I walked away not just with beautiful pieces, but also with a deeper appreciation for the craft.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to unwind, learn a new skill, or just get a little messy with clay!

I joined the wheel throwing + hand building beginner course and learned so much in just a few weeks.

Small class sizes made a huge difference. In the end, I ended up with eight small cute pieces for home that I use every day.
