Date:

Join us for a slow, sensory Saturday morning by the canal in Hackney Wick. In partnership with Alchème Studio, a London-based studio for curated tea experiences and mindful rituals, this exclusive workshop pairs the art of traditional matcha preparation with the craft of making your own matcha bowl. Designed for complete beginners and tea lovers alike, it's a two-hour invitation to slow down, connect with your senses, and create something truly your own.

Unlike standard matcha classes, we offer an elevated, in-depth experience using only top-tier, ceremonial-grade matcha, paired with expert guidance and a generous tasting menu.

What to Expect:

Part I: The Matcha Ritual (40 mins) Guided by Alchème Studio, you will embark on a journey into the world of matcha.

  • Welcome & Introduction: Settle in with a warm welcome brew and a complimentary mochi as you learn about the rich history, origins, and cultural significance of matcha.

  • Tasting & Quality Testing: Develop your palate by tasting and comparing two distinct, premium matcha cultivars.

  • Guided Preparation: Learn the authentic techniques of whisking and prepare your own refreshing iced matcha latte, naturally sweetened with seasonal fruit puree.

(A brief 5-minute break to refresh and transition)

Part II: Crafting Your Bowl (60 mins) With your senses awakened, move into the clay studio to hand-build your very own ceramic piece.

  • Mindful Making: Under expert guidance, choose to craft either a traditional drinking bowl (Chawan) or a specialized whisking bowl with a pouring spout (Katakuchi).

  • Glazing & Finishing (10 mins): Select your preferred glaze from our studio’s beautiful, custom-made palette to finish your piece.
