5 Day Wheel Throwing Immersive Class|All Levels
14 – 18 July, 10 am – 4 pm, 15 August, 1 – 4 pm
Running from 14 – 18 July, 10 am – 4 pm Monday-Friday each day. This five-day intensive is open to complete beginners, confident improvers, and experienced throwers who want more time on the wheel. Across the week you’ll move methodically from the fundamentals of centring and pulling cylinders to shaping bowls, trimming crisp foot rings, and experimenting with new forms such as plates, small vases, and altered shapes. We finish by refining surfaces, attaching handles, and selecting your strongest pieces for their first (bisque) firing.
Each class is limited to 4 participants, so the teacher can provide plenty of one-to-one guidance for everyone. The focus is on enjoying yourself, relaxing, and gaining a hands-on feel for clay and the wheel. By the end of the week you’ll have no more than 12 pieces that reflect the fun you had while learning.
You will come back to take the glaze class on 15 August, 1 – 4 pm. Introducing glaze materials along with brushing and dipping techniques. You’ll return to finish your own work, exploring our palette of studio glazes before the final firing. Finished pieces are normally ready to collect about 4 weeks later; we’ll email as soon as they’re out of the kiln.
Whether you’re taking your very first spin on the wheel or refining established skills, this course offers a supportive, small-group setting to build confidence and express your personal style in clay.

All clay, glazes, and basic tools are provided during the class. While we encourage creativity, we ask that you only fire the pieces you truly love to support sustainability. The studio will fire 12 pieces per student, with each piece no larger than 18cm in diameter and 22cm in height. Larger pieces can be fired for an additional cost.
Tool Kit:
You’ll need an eight-piece pottery tool kit and a breathable storage pouch, which can be purchased at the studio for £12 (normally £15). You’re also welcome to bring your own tools if you have them.
Missed Classes:
We regret if you miss a class, we’re unable to offer a replacement session, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up during the next class.
We are looking forward to seeing you in the Trace Ceramics Studio!

If you are not collected within that time, we’ll give them to charity shops due to limited shelf space.
