Who can use the studio
Membership is intended for makers with prior pottery experience who feel confident working independently, are familiar with basic firing procedures, and understand how to care for a shared studio. New members need to arrange an induction with our technician before their first independent session. An induction is an introduction to the space, not a substitute for a beginner course.
Studio access & booking
Monday 2–9pm; Tuesday 11am–6pm; Wednesday wheel 11am–6pm and hand-building until 9pm; Thursday 11am–9pm; Friday 11am–6pm; Saturday closed to members; Sunday wheel 1–5pm and hand-building 11am–5pm.
Studio time is subject to capacity, occasional closures and any advance booking arrangements shown in the member booking system. Please allow enough time to clean your workspace before your session ends.
Materials, glazes & firing
Each paid membership month includes up to 2.5kg of bisque firing and 1.5kg of glaze firing, using the studio glazes included with this plan.
Clay is purchased separately. Speciality materials, glazes outside your plan’s included range and firing beyond the allowance are charged separately at the studio’s current published rates. Please check costs with our team before submitting work. Ceramic outcomes naturally vary; our team takes reasonable care of work during handling and firing, but cracking, warping and glaze variation can occur.
Payments, renewal & cancellation
Your membership is paid monthly. The available options are: 1 month at £165/month, 3 months at £150/month, or 6 months at £140/month. The 3- and 6-month options offer a reduced monthly rate in return for your selected initial commitment. After that initial period, your membership continues on a monthly rolling basis at the same plan-specific rate until cancelled in accordance with the applicable cancellation terms.
If you need to end your Light Membership before completing your selected 3- or 6-month initial period, you may request early cancellation. The discount received for the months already used will then be adjusted to the applicable shorter-term rate. You will be asked to pay the difference between the reduced fees you have paid and the fees for those months at that applicable rate. We will explain the calculation and confirm the effective cancellation date before making any adjustment. For example, a 6-month member leaving after 2 completed months would have those 2 months recalculated at the 1-month rate rather than the 6-month discounted rate. After the initial commitment, you may cancel before your next scheduled payment date. Please contact our team in writing to arrange cancellation. Statutory rights are unaffected.
Pauses, transfers & unused time
Six-month memberships include one holiday pause of up to two weeks. Please request this by email at least one week in advance so we can confirm the dates. Fees continue to be collected on the usual billing schedule and the end of the initial commitment is extended by the approved pause duration. Three-month and rolling monthly plans do not include this benefit unless separately agreed.
Six-month Light Memberships may be transferred to another eligible maker with prior written approval from Trace. The new member must complete an induction; the original commitment and terms remain unchanged. Monthly and three-month plans are not transferable.
Unused studio hours do not automatically roll over into future periods unless expressly stated in your purchased plan. Please contact us before making changes rather than asking someone else to use your booking.
Shared studio care & safety
Please leave your wheel, table, tools and surrounding area clean and ready for the next maker. Follow the technician’s instructions for equipment, clay disposal, glaze handling and fire safety. Treat fellow makers and staff with care and consideration. We may take proportionate action if serious or repeated safety issues arise, subject to your legal rights.
Membership includes a free group guidance session on the last Sunday of each month, outside your membership hour allowance. If you would like to stay and practise afterwards, you may book an eligible afternoon drop-in at 25% off the standard single-session price, subject to space and availability.
Work, storage & collection
One-third of a storage board.
Please label work clearly. After membership ends, contact us promptly to arrange collection. Please collect your personal belongings, tools and ceramic work within 14 days after your membership ends. If you need additional time, please contact us in advance. We will contact you before taking any further steps with uncollected items, subject to your statutory rights.
Agreement & getting in touch
Your applicable plan, renewal and cancellation terms should be clearly presented before payment. Please keep a copy of your booking or subscription confirmation.
