Shinhye is a Korean ceramic artist based in London. She has studied ceramics since 2013, when she began her BA at Kookmin University in South Korea. There, she developed essential technical skills for ceramic practice, including wheel throwing, hand-building, sculpting, and mould-making.

She studied wheel throwing under Lee Jeong Yong, a master potter known for his porcelain moon jars inspired by the aesthetics of Joseon Dynasty porcelain. From him, she learned traditional Korean throwing techniques, focusing on vessel form, line, and the technical methods required to achieve them. She also learned how to make onggi, traditional Korean fermentation jars, from the potter Jang Seok Hyun.

Among the wide range of skills she has acquired, hand-building is her strongest technique. Working with porcelain and stoneware, she creates delicate and elegant creatures that evoke fairy tales and imagined worlds. Her hand-built sculptures have been exhibited internationally at renowned events such as Ceramic Art London, Ceramic Art Andenne, the Aveiro Ceramic Biennale, and more.
