Course Overview:

Friendly for everyone, this 2-hour hand-building taster class offers an introduction to the essential knowledge of ceramics. You’ll have the opportunity to try out techniques such as pinch cup and handle stitching. Under the guidance of our skilled instructor, you’ll learn to shape clay into functional or decorative pieces while exploring different techniques to find your own creative style. This taster session is a relaxed, supportive environment designed to spark your interest and give you a hands-on feel for ceramics.

Each taster class is limited to 6 participants, ensuring a small group setting where each student can receive more personal guidance and attention. You’ll complete one or two small pieces during the session, which we will then glaze and fire for you.

Your finished pieces will be ready for collection about 4 weeks after the course ends, but sometimes it may take a little longer. We’ll email you when your work is ready. Please collect your pieces within 4 weeks of receiving the email, as we unfortunately can’t store them for longer. If you are not collected within that time, we’ll give them to charity shops due to limited shelf space.

What’s Included:

All clay, glazes, apron and basic tools are provided during the class. At the end, you’ll choose a glaze from our glaze board, and we’ll glaze your pieces for you. While we encourage creativity, we ask that you only fire the pieces you truly love to support sustainability. The studio will fire 1 piece per student, with each piece no larger than 12 cm in diameter and 15 cm in height, or larger and more pieces can be fired for an additional cost ( click firing policy here)

If you wish to use underglaze painting for your work, there is a painting session for you.
