29th June, Sunday , 2.30-4.30pm
19th July, Saturday, 2.30-4.30pm
26th July, Saturday, 2.30-4.30pm
Location: Studio 4, Lockside Studio, 5 Skippers Yard, E3 2RF
Course Overview:
Perfect for beginners and those curious about wheel throwing, this 2-hour taster class introduces you to the basics of working on the pottery wheel. Guided by an experienced instructor, you’ll learn fundamental techniques like centering, pulling, and shaping clay to create simple pottery, such as bowls or cups. This class offers a supportive, hands-on environment to spark your creativity and give you a feel for the art of wheel throwing.
Each taster class is limited to 4 participants, keeping the group small so you can receive more personal guidance and maximize your time on the wheel. By the end of the session, you will complete one or two small pieces during the session, which we will then glaze and fire for you.
Your finished pieces will be ready for collection about 4 weeks after the course ends, but sometimes it may take a little longer. We’ll email you when your work is ready. Please collect your pieces within 4 weeks of receiving the email, as we unfortunately can’t store them for longer. If you are not collected within that time, we’ll give them to charity shops due to limited shelf space.

What’s Included:
All clay, glazes, apron and basic tools are provided during the class. At the end, you’ll choose a glaze from our glaze board, and we’ll glaze your pieces for you. While we encourage creativity, we ask that you only fire the pieces you truly love to support sustainability. The studio will fire 1 piece per student, with each piece no larger than 12 cm in diameter and 15 cm in height, or larger and more pieces can be fired for an additional cost.
If you wish to use underglaze painting for your work, there is a painting session for you.
