4th September–9th October, Friday Evening, 6 Week, 6:30–9:00pm
16th October–20th November, Friday Evening, 6 Week, 6:30–9:00pm
Course Overview
This course is designed especially for beginners, offering a gentle introduction to hand-building and wheel throwing techniques. You’ll be guided through essential methods like centering on the wheel, pinch pots, coil building, using different techniques on one item, and glazing. You will have chances to create your own cups, bowls, small plates and more creative pieces.
You’ll have the chance to try out a variety of techniques, and we encourage everyone to explore their own preferences. By the end of the course, you’ll develop a clear understanding of both approaches and feel ready to choose between wheel throwing and hand building.
Each class is limited to 8 participants, keeping a smaller group of students, and the teacher can provide more one-on-one guidance. Over the 6 weeks, you’ll typically make around 6 pieces. Our studio offers a lovely range of glazes for you to experiment with. If you're interested in learning ceramic painting, we can arrange additional time for you to explore that too.
Your finished pieces will be ready for collection about 4 weeks after the course ends, but sometimes it may take a little longer. We’ll email you when your work is ready. Please collect your pieces within 4 weeks of receiving the email, as we unfortunately can’t store them for longer. If you are not collected within that time, we’ll give them to charity shops due to limited shelf space.
For those who have completed this beginner mixed course and are interested in progressing, we also offer 6 Week Beginner courses-check our website for details. Alternatively, if you’d like to join our studio as a studio member, you can find more information online.
